Joomla 2.5.20 and 3.3.0 Released

It is officially announced that Joomla 2.5.20 and Joomla 3.3 has been released on 30th April, 2014. You'll find a few new features but usually with any release, there are some bug fixes and security fixes as well.

Joomla 2.5.20 Stable has been released.

The Joomla Project is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Joomla 2.5.20. This is a maintenance release, addressing 5 tracker items.

Version 2.5.20 Release Notes:

  1. CMS Libraries: Fix handling with emty files at the delete function
  2. CMS Libraries: User selector is blank by default.
  3. Database: Fixing version comparison for database schema.
  4. Forms: JFormRuleContactEmailMessage declines valid messages.
  5. None: Language string missing for My Profile Help Screen.

This release is maintenance release, we recommend that users perform a Joomla upgrade in order to take advantage of the fixes that have been released. Full details can be found in the official 2.5.20 release announcement at joomla.org.

Joomla 3.3.0 Stable has been released.

This is release addressing is the result of the work of 40 different volunteer contributors, addressing over 115 bugs and introducing several new features.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Joomla 3.3.0 requires PHP 5.3.10 for server that have yet to be updated the Joomla 3.2.4 bridge release is also available which can be used with PHP versions 5.3.1 through 5.3.9. It is highly recommended that servers are update to the latest version of PHP 5.3 for best performance, security and compatibility (current release is PHP 5.3.28)

Some highlight include the inclusion of front end module editing, microdata library inclusion, cloud storage APIs, and enhanced security features.

Full details can be found in the official 3.3.0 release announcement at joomla.org, theses are the actual 3.3.0 release notes the detailing all the included changes, Joomla 3.2.4 notes are effectively the same except features and requiring higher PHP version are not included.

This release is a maintenance and feature release, we highly recommend that users perform a Joomla upgrade in order to take advantage of the fixes and features that have been released.
